Tamsin Hinton-Smith is a Senior Lecturer in Higher Education in the School of Education and Social Work at the University of Sussex. She is also Associate Director of the Centre for Gender Studies and a member of the Centre for Higher Education and Equity Research (CHEER).
Her talk ‘Supporting Equality and diversity – whose responsibility?’ considers the responsibilities of individuals and institutions in acknowledging and addressing inequalities and prejudice. The talk focuses specifically on the case of universities, but identifies wider links of relevance to other social institutions and interactions. In particular, the relevance of power, intersectionality, and implicit or unconscious bias are explored.
